Tencent Invests $1.3B in Ubisoft’s Vantage Studios to Bolster Gaming Franchises
Tencent has injected $1.3 billion into Ubisoft's newly formed Vantage Studios, acquiring a 26% economic stake in the entity. The deal values Vantage Studios at a pre-money enterprise value of €3.8 billion, providing Ubisoft with critical capital to pay down debt and stabilize its balance sheet.
The French gaming giant will retain majority control for at least two years, while Tencent is locked into its investment for five years. Vantage Studios, operational since October 2025, will focus on Ubisoft's flagship franchises like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six, granting developers greater creative freedom.
Strategic provisions allow either party to repurchase shares in case of ownership changes, ensuring long-term stability. Analysts view the cash infusion as a transformative MOVE for Ubisoft's financial health amid tightening industry conditions.
